Here’s what I’m working on in addition to delivering my seminars
Research
I’m working on a study for the IIA Research Foundation that will present case studies of organizations implementing COSO 2013. The working title of the publication that will result is COSO 2013 in Action: Implementation Examples and Guidelines. If you or anyone you know has substantially implemented COSO 2013, either for compliance with SOX (or similar ICFR regulations) or more broadly for risks and controls over all business objectives, please let me know.
Recent Publications
In 2013 I co-authored the IIA’s new Quality Assessment Manual for the Internal Audit Activity with Don Espersen, Pat Copeland, and Judy Grobler. It was a pleasure to work with all three, and we hope the new manual will make QAs and QAIPs easier. The manual is available through the IIA.
In 2012 I was one on five authors of the completely revised Sawyer’s Guide for Internal Auditors, 6th Edition, which is also available through the IIA. I wrote ten of the 20 chapters, so it is both a pleasure and relief to have it completed. The old Sawyer’s was a 1400 page textbook. The new Sawyer’s is more of a reference manual intended primarily for new internal auditors and internal audit departments.
IIA’s Publications Advisory Committee (PAC)
I’ve rejoined the committee I worked on for ten years before my hiatus to PIC. I’m co-editing the “Back to Basics” column in Internal Auditor magazine with Laura Soileau, as well as reviewing feature articles submitted for consideration and rating all published articles for the IIA’s Thurston award.
